The alluring art of Audrey Kawasaki

Since the very first glance, the effect is devastating: Audrey Kawasaki’s works enrapture you because of their beauty even before realizing what you’re looking at. And as soon as you try to regain consciousness, a new emotional short circuit leaves you breathless: ethereal purity and unbridled sensuality alternate and chase each other unfailingly, persuading us that neither purity nor sensuality do exist alone, but that they are indissolubly bounded.

The girls painted by Kawasaki lie down on the wood with the swinging grace of a butterfly mixed with the hypnotic and sensual gestures of a geisha.

From time to time, a different emotion as well as condition takes over her girls: secret desires emerge on their faces, for a moment forbidden thoughts stop concealing themselves from the consciousness and take shape in the space that surrounds them, shattered dreams reawaken and tear them apart.

The beholder is asked to take part in those visions or, more simply, to surrender and get carried away by shapes, colors and lines that – in each work but also transversally between a work and  another – are impeccably balanced.

Whatever visual approach is chosen, emotion is guaranteed.
